Director Biography - Mehmet Esen

Mehmet Esen (born 1958 in Istanbul) is a Turkish theatre, film and television actor and director. His interest in performance began in childhood and continued during his years at Ankara Atatürk High School, when he trained at the Ankara Experiment Stage. He later worked with the Revolutionary Ankara Art Theater. After moving to Istanbul, he performed in storytelling plays directed by Münir Özkul and later worked at Dostlar Theater with Genco Erkal. Deeply affected by the death of Erkan Yücel, Esen took a break from his artistic career before returning to the stage with “Düş ve Gerçek.” He also worked in Berlin as an actor and director in German and Turkish theatres. In 1994, he presented improvised storytelling performances at Leman Kültür. Returning to Turkey in 2000, he wrote the novel “Aşk Hayattan Büyük.” He continues his work in cinema, television and theatre as an actor and director.
